    OH MY GOD!!!!

I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU PEOPLE!! That's exactly what makes a song for me, too! I actually died a little when I saw Buckley's Hallelujah lyrics posted on here a while ago. Oh so good!

    Like one of my faves:

    "Don't keep appointments with disappointment"
    Song: Lily Two
    Artist: Matt Pond PA

I rep Matt Pond PA so HARDCORE-- like I just love them! If anyone wants CD's I will burn them up and snail mail them to you!!!

Tool- Eulogy...I friggin love this song

    Eulogy]
    {2:08}
    He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
    (We'll miss him. 2x)
    He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
    (We'll miss him. 2x)
    (We're gonna miss him. 2x)

    So loooooong!
    We wish you well.
You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
    Well so looooooong.
    Don't cryyyyy.
    Or feel too down.
    Not all martyrs see divinity.
    But at least you tried.

    Standing above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud.
    (We'll miss him. 2x)

    Ranting and pointing his finger
    at everything but his heart.
    (We'll miss him. 2x)
    (We're gonna miss him. 2x)

    No wayyyyyy
    to recall
what it was that you had said to me,
    like I care at alll.
    But he was sooo louuud.
    You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
    and soooo louuuuuuuuud.

You, could be, the one, who saves, me from, my own, existence.

    {indistinct}

    Standing above the crowd,
he had a voice that was strong and loud
and I swallowed his facade cuz I'm so eager to identify
    with someone above the ground,
someone who seemed to feel the same,
someone prepared to lead the way,
with someone who would die for me.

    Will you?
    Will you now?
    Would you die for me?
    Don't you fuckin' lie.
(Don't you step out of line! 3x)
    Don't you fuckin lie.

    You've claimed all this time
that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised
    when hear your own eulogy?
    (He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say. 2x)

    Coome down.
    Get off your fuckin cross.

    We need the fuckin space
to nail the next fool martyr!

    To ascend you must die!
    You must be crucified
for our sins and our lies!
    Goodbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye!

Cake - Fashion Nugget - Nugget

    ....

Now Heads of State who ride and wrangle,
Who look at your face from more than one angle,
Can cut you from their bloated budgets
Like sharpened knives through Chicken McNuggets.

    Shut the fuck up.
    Shut the fuck up.
    Learn to buck up.
    Shut the fuck up.
    Learn to buck up.

Now nimble fingers that dance on numbers
Will eat your children and steal your thunder,
While heavy torsos that heave and hurl
Who crunch like nuts in the mouths of squirrels.

    ....

I think the song is talking about the american way.

Talking about institutions breaking you down to generalized attributes and paving the road you walk without you ever knowing really.

chicken nuggets and the last verse might be referencing our consumerist religion and how it really dont give a fuck about anything but lusting for more.

This song literally Speaks to me!!!

It's more of a story but hits a lot of different topics... READ!!!

    Atmosphere:

    The Things That Hate Us

See I come from a time where they didn't put rear view mirrors on passenger sides of vehicles.

And this is for those that still drink malt liquor.
Put the poison in your body just to pass out quicker.
When death calls best believe it's gonna get all emotional
Because I ain't goin' to hell without my menthols.
Damn cable TV got me trapped in
Girls actin' dumb and cops beatin' black men
    Overfill, overkill, tryin' to deal
Call the toll free and order my some diet pills.
Got me looking at the sugar in the Kool-Aid that you made
You need to chase it down with some toothpaste
Still stuck to the simple things yep the struggle in between a couple of krispy kremes
I have to ask if you could pass that half and half to get my coffee back on track
Big ups to all the carbonated hiccups the energy drinks and the suicide big gulps.
Gonna find happiness in the fast food
Supersize the triple bypass heart attack too
Distract you with these colorful tattoos to cover up the fact that we feel like bad news

We love the things that hate us.
Push snooze again girl I don't want to wake up
America the beautiful that's how she played us
Wasn't that cute it must have been her make up
Trying to grab everything that she gave us
Just take it back in the math on that pay stub
Lookin' at the neighbors like wait up
We love the things that hate us

Pain killers help find some feeling
Crack the vic in half just to break the time sealant
Take it by yourself on the living room carpet
Do a little bump just to clean your apartment
I've seen your wife she's not the true finest
I understand why you like to pay them prostitutes
Strip clubs gun shops oh Jesus right next to the liquor store for your convenience
Everybody say ho for the cuervo
You can drive if you promise to be careful
Turn the radio up and light a doobie
And keep acting like life is like a movie
This is for those needles you share because
Those after school TV specials is too square
Cook the coke for your own consumption
All some joe joe dems In old school
    What's your function
As American as herpes and hot dogs
Got lost between the mustard and the hot sauce
Unprotected sex with that one you just met
You ain't even got all your hep shots yet

We love the things that hate us.
Push snooze again girl I don't want to wake up
America the beautiful that's how she played us
Wasn't that cute it must have been her make up
Trying to grab everything that she gave us
Just take it back in the math on that pay stub
Lookin' at the neighbors like wait up
We love the things that hate us

I have a feeling, Christina will be able to appreciate this one as much as I.
Although, I have always envisioned Christina being spelled with a K as I listen to it...
    For obvious reasons.

I'm in love with a TV star
She drove me home in her Lexus car
Like her dog but I don't watch her show
Spend my time with the radio
Seen her dancin on the Sunset Strip
Bell-bottom jeans and her curvy hips
Seen her sittin there with her boyfriend
Good lookin' fellow but he's lookin' kinda thin
Christina, A La La La La, Christina, A La La La La,
Christina, A La La La La, Christina, A La La La La,
    I love you sooooo
Remember that day we played pool
I saw your bedroom and we ate B-BQ
Barbie came from her trip down town
    Fifty up and Forty down
Love ya more than the sun and the sky
Gotta kiss and hug ya before I die
Something else that you oughta know too,
    did something weird
Christina, A La La La La, Christina, A La La La La,
Christina, A La La La La, Christina, A La La La La,
    I love you so
I'm in love with a TV star
She drove me home in her Lexus car
Like her dog but I don't watch her show
Spend my time with the radio
Been watchin' TV as the years go by
Seen em' born and I seen them die
Something else that you oughta know too
I like a girl named Ellen more than you
Christina, A La La La La, Christina, A La La La La,
Christina, A La La La La, Christina, A La La La La,
    I love you so

In high school every single divider in my binder was completely covered in song lyrics. Like I spent soooooo much time filling those things up with deep shit. I actually still have those things in the attic somewhere. I should scan and post.

And yes! Jeff Buckley is the man. I remember the day he died. I was in 7th grade and my best friend like told me and we were crying. lol. Yeah.... 7th grade is really dramatic. But yes. Love love love him.

Emily introduced to the wonderful world that is Jeff Buckley...
Here is a fav of mine:

Looking out the door I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water
    And maybe I'm too young
To keep good love from going wrong
But tonight you're on my mind so (you'll never know)

I'm broken down and hungry for your love
With no way to feed it
Where are you tonight? Child, you know how much I need it
Too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run

Sometimes a man gets carried away
When he feels like he should be having his fun
And much too blind to see the damage he's done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that, really,
    He has no one...

So I'll wait for you... And I'll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return, oh, or will I ever learn
    Lover, you should've come over
    Cause it's not too late

Lonely is the room the bed is made
The open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep that wont ever come
It's never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over, all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her...
It's never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It's never over, she is the tear that hangs inside my soul forever
Maybe I'm too young to keep good love from going wrong
Oh... Lover, you should've come over... 'Cause it's not too late...

Liiiiiiiiisa -- I finally just read all of The Things That Hate Us.

Wow! I'm going to DL the song tonight so I can HEAR it!

I've realized that in a weird, possibly sick way I happen to enjoy songs that talk about pain killers & drugs.

Emily will feel me on the BRIGHT EYES!!! What song lyrics should we post???! Lover I don't have to love, something vague, i believe in symmetry...?

ha. My husband's favorite is "Lover I don't have to love"

But Something vague is a classic. I dunno. My favorites are If Winter Ends and Poison Oak...wait... shit. I can't choose a favorite. Too hard.

    PS:
I totally forgot my absolute favorite BE song EVER.

    True Blue.
It's the ringtone when my husband calls.

We used to call each other "blue" before we listened to Bright Eyes and then we named our dog Blue. and then we heard the song. It's amazing.

At the center of the world
    There's a statue of a girl
She is standing near a well
With a bucket bare and dry
I went and looked her in the eyes
And she turned me into sand
This clumsy form that I despise
It scattered easy in her hand
And came to rest upon a beach
    With a million others there
We sat and waited for the sea
To stretch out so that we could disappear
    Into the endlessness of blue
Into the horror of the truth
See, we are far less than we knew
Yeah, we are far less than we knew
But we knew what we could taste
Girls found honey to drench our hands
Men cut marble to mark our graves
Saying, we'll need something to remind us
Of all the sweetness that has passed through us
    (fresh sangria and lemon tea)
The priests dressed children for choir
    (white-robed small voices praise Him)
But found no joy in what was sung
    The funeral had begun
In the middle of the day
When you drive home to your place
From that job that makes you sleep
Back to the thoughts that keep you awake
Long after night has come to claim
    Any light that still remains
In the corner of the frame
That you put around her face
    Two pills just weren’t enough
    The alarm clock's going off
    But you're not waking up
This isn’t happening, happening, happening, happening, happening
    It is

True Blue!! It is a goodie, AND clearly has some additional significance for you two lovebirds. Very cool!!

    Music to my ears:

    Duh: Bright Eyes
    Minus the Bear
    Brand New
Tegan & Sara (new album = VERY good)
Matt Pond PA (as I mentioned earlier...)
    Frou Frou/Imogen Heap
Northstar (they're broken up now- lame)
    The Return
    Circa Survive
    Everclear (latest album is entertaining)
    City & Colour/Dallas Green
For a while I was enjoying: As Tall As Lions
And cool random composed stuff-- like have you ever heard the Spanglish or Amelie soundtracks??
    Oldies: Beatles, Tom Petty, etc.

Throw out some music suggestions for me! I need new stuff to rock out to!!!

Ha. I wanna pull a card from "stuff white people like" right now!!!! Because I have no idea who a few of those peeps are. You have the upper hand my friend! I bow!

    My favorites:
    Radiohead
    The Beatles
    Rolling Stones
    Bright Eyes
    Van Mossion
    Jeff Buckley
    Led Zepplin
    Counting Crows.

Probably more.... I just can't think at the moment.

I also love: THE DECEMBERISTS!!!, Cursive, Bear vs. Shark, Desaparecidos, MIA, HOT CHIP!! (They are on heavy rotation right now), Bjork, Digitalism, The Faint... (hella Saddle creek shit) Blood Bros. I dunno. Scott and I like literally have way too much music for our own good. I can honestly say I like way too many to list. But if I come across something particularly awesome I'll holla atchu.

Scott loves Imogen Heap. lol. That hide and Seek song....I always catch him listening to it and it makes me laugh.

PS: I heard that that City & Colour band was playing in SF very soon. I read it and said to myself "Who the fuck are city & colour?" lol Maybe I need a musical brush up. You young-inz obviously have the upper hand.

haha my bf likes imogen, too -- I totally catch him listening to her every once in a while, too!

I totally got into the Decemberists at the end of 2007 -- 16 military wives got me wanting more!! Have you ever heard of The Long Winters?

And I can never get enough of Counting Crows-- just so good on the ears at all times!!

    Why are we not married?

I'm serious. I usually get laughed at for my love of CC.

But if we are talking lyrics, homeboy Adam Duritz is a MASTER!

Yeah The Decemberists are one of my favs. We've seen them a couple times and they put on a fun show.

Clearly someone got to you before I could in the marriage department, we will just have to manage as long lost lovers instead!

Ya - a lot of people hate on the CC, but whatever! I like Duritz's back story (like some identity disorder I read about a long time ago, etc)-- that really makes his lyrics interesting & deep!

Yessssss, can't wait to see your CC lyrical choice!

This song reminds me of my friend Ms. Patty Miller. I fucking love that girl. AND this song. it was like our song kinda. We loved it in junior high and it really is a great song.

"she is trapped inside a month of grey
and they take a little every day
she is a victim of her own responses
shackled to a heart that wants to settle
    and then runs away
it's a sin to be fading endlessly
yeah, but she's alright with me

she is leaving on a walkaway
    she is leaving in disarray
    in the absence
    of a place to be
she stands there looking back at me
    hesitates, and then turns away
    she'll change so suddenly
    she's just like mercury
yeah, but she's alright with me

    keep some sorrow in your
    hearts and minds
for the things that die before thier time
    for the restlessly abandoned homes
the tired and weary rambler's bones and stay beside me where i lie
    she's entwined in me
    crazy as can be
yeah, but she's alright with me."

    -Mercury
    Counting Crows.

If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves

If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a river in the mountains tall,
The rumble of your water would be my call.
If you were the winter, I know I'd be the snow
Just as long as you were with me, let the cold winds blow

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a wink, I'd be a nod
If you were a seed, well I'd be a pod.
If you were the floor, I'd wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, I know I'd be a hug

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were the wood, I'd be the fire.
If you were the love, I'd be the desire.
If you were a castle, I'd be your moat,
And if you were an ocean, I'd learn to float.

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

"Your New Twin Sized Bed" Death Cab

You look so defeated lying there in your new twin size bed
With a single pillow underneath your single head
I guess you decided that that old queen was more space than you would need
Now it's in the alley behind your apartment with a sign that says it's free

And I hope you have more luck with this than me

You used to think that someone would come along
And lay beside you in a space that they belong
But the other side of the mattress and box springs stayed like new
What's the point of holding on to what never gets used?

Other than a sick desire for self-abuse

And I try not to worry, but you've got me terrified
It's like your some kind of hurry
To say goodbye, say goodbye, say goodbye

You look so defeated lying there in your new twin size bed
