So I'm definitely in the market for a new car soon... Possibly by the end of the year... who knows.

Anyways... I need some advice. I've driven SUV's my entire life and I think it's time to possibly down-size to a sedan... for cost purposes and of course gas. Any ideas on some really good quality sedans I should be aware of?

It has to be four doors, automatic, and of course Cute!

Give me some great tips on where to shop and get the BEST deal :)

I could not agree with 4 doors enough! When I was 16 I had a 2-door and it was the worst decision ever, so then I traded for a 4-door... like the best decision I EVER made!!

As a loaner, we got an infiniti G35 -- and it was TO DIE FOR!! Soooo smooth, and basically greatness all around. Like every feature, the definition of bang for your buck!!

I'm big on the Mercedes C class because
    A. I have one
    B. Of course they are WAY better now, and the new C 300 is out of control AMAZING with like everything you could ever want.

    2002 civic on craigslist.

costs little good on gas, and you get to benefit from the higher quality standards enforced by the Japanese.

my civic is now 8 years old and I have not had a single thing go wrong with it mechanically.

only prob is it's not "cute"

    but a lexus is... yes!

    No to Lexus!!

If you're going to get a Lexus, save your wallet and get their sister car Toyota. Same damn thing!

    Two things:

    A. I am ridiculously jealous of C-Money for driving a Mercedes... My dream car is a CLS 500.

    2. I can in no way afford any of these cars you speak of... I was thinking more along the lines of a Jetta, maybe a Ford Edge... But definitely not a Mercedes or Lexus.

lol you should see how beat up my poor baby is, plus it's like one of the smallest C's you can have, don't be jealous.

Especially if you're thinking about a jetta-- which I L-O-V-E. Those cars are like fully loaded, a great size, and they make having 4 doors COOL!

What colors do you like for a car? like what are your preferences??

    Lol...

Without a doubt... the car needs to be BLACK!!!

With a sunroof, leather interior, nice stereo, good safety features for my two nephews, automatic everything...

I have a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer now and at the time she was made, "Monty" was fucking prime.
She has everything... and is actually still in really good condition... I'm just ready to move on.
    I do love Monty though...

Its a silent auction...You give ur bid, and theyll call you to see if you won. Its soo easy, you view the cars on monday of every week and they let you know wed if you won it.

You are so cute! Yes, I agree with all of the "non-negotiables" you listed.

Plus I'm a black car girl, too!!!

don't get an american car. i agree with mario - you need the higher quality standards enforced by the Japanese

i hear vw's are expensive to maintain, but i have a friend who drives a new-ish jetta so i can ask her about her experience this far. you might also talk to brett about his experience.

also, totally random, but my parents get consumer reports and i know they just did a full scale investigation of cars. it's sorted by brand and by price range. there's also a whole section on safety (including 3 cars that were rated "serious injury or death certain" in case of accident - stay away from those cars!). i can get it for you if you wanna read up!

i dunno about jetta's... my dad had 2 old school ones that fell apart, Brett has one that he is constantly bitching about... my mom has a passat station wagon that has started to fall apart... my coworker had a 4 door passat he sold IMMEDIATELY after the warranty expired because tons of shit had gone wrong.

i am a little bias in quality towards japanese products simply because i deal with japanese quality standards all day long... while its software and might be different, the level of quality and granularity in which these guys test shit is CRAZY... it makes our quality tests look like mickey mouse stuff.

additionally we have had some seminars regarding general Japanese biz practices and there is a lot of weight placed on quality in general.

Fuck Jap Cars!!! LOL...you all knew i was gonna have to step in this shit. Add any kind of power to a jap car, and shit is gonna start breaking. I know none of you care about modifying ur car, but they break like toothpicks with mods. Dont get a black car un;ess you dont mind it looking dirty all the time or wash it constantly.

Lisa: I just bought a 2008 focus. I know what everyone thinks of them, but I LOVE IT. it has sync, so you can plug a usb cable right into the dash to play mp3, and it has bluetooth so it talks to you. I buy gas once every 2.5 weeks. AND it comes with a 5 year warranty and 5 year roadside. The Fusion's are cute too, and also have the Sync. Check em out.

BTW, dont buy a VW. I talked to tons of mechanics before i decided on my car, and they all told me to stay far away from VWs

Yeah... I am pretty sure that I'm leaning towards an American made car... Even though I will get raped on the price!

Kelly... Where did you get your Focus? How much was it, if you don't mind me asking... and did you get it brand new?

BTW... How the hell are you?!?!?! Long time no talk!

Just got thumbs down on VW's from some friends I asked today.

Too bad, they are super cute!!

I just saw a new focus the other day and Ford really changed their focus and seems to have streamlined it-- and if Sync is the feature I'm thinking of, it sounds like a sweet ride!!

Dude: well i have been here and there and live with my boyfriend of 2 years here in bgame. Onto the focus. I used to have a cursed civic that hated me. Well when my neighbor drove into it, it was totaled, and i told myself i did NOT want a ford, but then i saw my ford in the showroom, and fell in looooove. I bought it at Hayward ford, but they are closed now, so I would call Dave Elkins at San Leandro Ford. It was like 18000, but i got a deal. Let him know i told you to call, and you could haggle with him. The fusions are reallllly cute too. Daves number is 510 751 3564. I bought it brand new, right off the floor. I just broke the 1,000 mile mark! oh and it still smells like new car.

Absolutely not... I'm not a hater... Just totally not coordinated enough to drive a stick!

For the safety of myself and everyone on the road, I should definitely stick to an automatic!

I don't gotta lie to kick it!

I've got a VW Passat. It had problems when I first got it. Its been cool the past year, but I'd never get one again.... never ever. Best bet is a toyota or ford.
