Can someone tell me how to open this thing? I've tried Excel, Word, Adobe, Notepad and even Paint.
It's probably all text (wire receipts) and I need to get it opened today.

From my IT guy at work :
We are unable to open this from my end. Can you email the customer back asking them if they can send it to you in a different format?
I have to email my unhappy customer... again. /tear

well meli... dat files are just word/excel/w/e files that have arbitrary data
just open it in notepad... or just rename the file from file.dat to file.wps or if its a speadsheet file.xls

Dont you email unhappy customers all day? Just copy and past your normal email and attach it.

So per my IT guy, I did actually open the file. It was all gibberish so I assumed I hadn't opened it. They said it probably wasn't the normal US DAT file... or something.
